So here's a weird story, and a few of you might even know what I'm actually talking about! If not, then be entertained at my expense:

In grade nine, I had a huge crush on R, and trust me, realizing that I was attracted to him came as a weird epiphany to me too. Anyway, it's not like he was hot or anything...actually, when I think about it, he wasn't hot at all, but it was this certain je ne sais quois. Besides, I've never been really attracted to conventionally hot guys anyway (not in a serious way, at least...but that's a whole other story). This lasted for about, oh...2 years, I would say? I don't know, it was definitely an odd phase I went through.

Eventually, I lost interest. Mostly because we'd been friends and then sort of drifted apart, and partly because...well, that first thing was the main reason.

Then in grade eleven, we became pretty close again. This time, close enough to know that I could never really hold a relationship other than friendship with him; for several related-yet-unrelated reasons. And yet, for these same exact reasons, we hung out a lot more than we had in the past, and it was "good times", if you will.

A succession of events led us to drift apart again, mostly because of geographical reasons. I mean, really, we hadn't talked in about a year until we started chatting again about a week ago. And it's funny because it feels so natural to just have a conversation with him without any weird undertones.

Now, I'm comfortable with just being friends, which is a great thing, since that will be the only thing that it can be.

Hmm...I don't know why I just decided to share this all of sudden, but it's been on my mind for the past few days (amongst all that other crap in there), so there you go.
